Willow Workshop – Plant. Create. Grow

Discover the incredible benefits of expressing yourself through art in nature. No experience required, just an open mind and the willingness to explore your artistic side!

These creative sessions have been designed for adults to become involved with both willow planting at TY Calon and the creation of a willow garden ornament – a cute willow fish on a line or bird; which includes basic willow weaving techniques. This Heritage craft activity is tailored to boost your health and well being. All participants will take home a willow garden ornament.

Planting within this workshop will take one hour outdoors, therefore it’s recommended that all participants wear layered clothing incase of being too warm or chilly; a hat, coat, wellies or gardening boots and waterproofs in case it rains!

The creative part of the session will be indoors.

You will learn about the growing of willow and willow coppicing/ harvesting. You will also learn of the holistic properties of willow- regarded as having healing properties within many ancient cultures and traditions and also within some of our cultures today.

During the session you will plant willow shoots in the gardens of Ty Calon and also create a willow garden ornament to take home to adorn your own space.
